Unbelievable Japan – Conveni

English

Today’s topic is about “Conveni”, which is the Japanese abbreviation of convenience store. If you have already dropped by any convenience store in Japan, you must have had good surprise at their services.

They are handling not only foods and drinks like supermarkets, but also copy/FAX, ATM, postal and public (Tax) payment services. You can also use the convenience store for picking up spot for E-sopping like Amazon, Mercari.

There are three major convenience stores in Japan. Seven eleven, Lowson and Family mart. Each store has its own unique characteristics. For example, Seven eleven is famous for delicious bento (lunch box) and onigiri (Rice ball), Lowson is famous for Kara-age-kun (chicken nugget) and Uchi coffee (Coffee and sweets), Fmily mart is famous for Fami-chicke (chicken nugget) and sweet bread. Katy Perry loves Kara-age-kun.

The reason why Japanese convenience stores are always convenient is just because they are doing market research by monitoring the purchased items, gender, age at cash register. With the data, they work on it for the new (original brand) items/services.

People say we can survive as long as convenience is available. God speed.

That’s all for the today’s topic. I hope this would help you understand what is going on in Japan.
