Unbelievable Japan – Free drinking water

Today’s topic is about “Free drinking water”.

I guess everyone from overseas would be suprised to see when the free drinking water is served at the restaurants in Japan. Depending on the restaurants, they may serve free Japanese tea as well. Unlike any other countries in the world, they serve free drinking water and sometimes tea at the restaurants and don’t expect tips.

First of all, we can drink tap water almost everywhere in Japan. It is just because water purification system is excellent. So, many Japanese people get grateful for it when they visit other countries. They have not got used to buying water in the shops for a long time.

People say “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”, but there is free drinking water in Japanese restaurants.
